Big-league sports arrived in force: the Raiders play at Allegiant Stadium, the Golden Knights brought a Stanley Cup to town, the WNBA's Aces have become a dynasty, an F1 street circuit now runs the Strip each November, and Major League Baseball is on the way. The Las Vegas Convention Center and events like CES keep the service economy busy year-round, and — like Texas — Nevada charges no state income tax.

For a household leaving San Antonio, the trade-offs are real. Las Vegas housing generally runs higher than San Antonio's; both the median home price and typical rents tend to sit above what the same money buys in Bexar County, though the shared absence of a state income tax softens the paycheck math. In exchange you get a bone-dry desert climate instead of Gulf humidity, world-class dining and entertainment on tap, and an outdoor backyard that includes Red Rock Canyon, Mount Charleston's pine forests and ski runs, Lake Mead, and Zion, Death Valley, and the Grand Canyon all within a few hours' drive.
