Beyond the cameras sits a substantial cluster of aerospace and biomedical manufacturing — Boston Scientific, Advanced Bionics, and Aerospace Dynamics all run plants here — alongside the corporate headquarters of Princess Cruises in Valencia, Logix Federal Credit Union, and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Education anchors the valley too, with College of the Canyons and the renowned California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), while Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia is both a regional landmark and a major seasonal employer.

For a household leaving San Antonio or the Hill Country, the trade-off is real and worth planning around. Santa Clarita is consistently ranked among the safest large cities in California, its William S. Hart district schools draw families, and the paseo trails, bike paths, Castaic Lake, and surrounding canyon hikes give it an outdoorsy, family-first feel that many transplants prefer to the density of the L.A. basin. It also costs considerably more than Central Texas — California home prices, taxes, and fuel all sit well above what a Boerne, Stonewall, or northwest-San Antonio budget is used to, and the same dollars buy less square footage and lot. What you gain in return is dry inland heat instead of San Antonio's humidity, newer master-planned neighborhoods, mountain evenings, and a base within a short Metrolink ride or I-5 drive of the entire Los Angeles job market.
